MAEF manages post-secondary scholarships for students attending Mahtomedi Public Schools

Scholarships are available because of generous donations from individuals and families. Scholarship donors recognize the importance of education and have chosen to actively participate in extending this opportunity.

We thank and honor these sponsors as partners in educational excellence. Because of our donor investments, current students benefit.

Please note that other scholarships are available through the Mahtomedi High School Counseling Office - please see Chris King.

General Applicant Criteria

  • Applicants must be students in the Mahtomedi Public Schools
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered
  • An application is not complete until all supporting documentation has been submitted
  • Applications will not be accepted after the deadline

APPLICATION Process

College scholarship applications for the 2016-2017 school year will be accepted from  December 15, 2016 - February 6, 2017.

Applications must be submitted electronically from this page using the following steps:

  1. Review scholarship opportunities to determine which scholarships you are eligible for
  2. Complete the General Application
    • Everyone must complete the General Application, with these exceptions:
      • An applicant that only wishes to apply for the MAEF Community and Technical College Scholarship and/or the Wildwood Lions Club Vocational Technical Scholarship
      • Juniors applying for the Hill Scholarship
      • College Freshman applying for the recurring portion of the American Legion scholarship
    • Applications can not be saved so it is important that you give yourself enough time to complete in one session
  3. Complete applicable Individual Scholarship Applications
    • Determine which of the Individual Scholarship Applications you should complete based upon the scholarship criteria that applies to you
    • Individual Scholarship Applications can not be saved so it is important that you give yourself enough time to complete each application in one session
    • Individual Scholarship Applications and their descriptions are below
  4. Submit supporting documentation to scholarships@maefgives.org. Applicants are only required to submit one copy of each supporting document (regardless of number of scholarships applied for). Supporting documentation may include:
    • A copy of your unofficial high school transcript - all scholarships require an unofficial transcript; a report card is not sufficient
    • Student Aid Report (SAR) listing the federally determined Estimated Family Contribution (EFC)
      • SAR is sent to students after they've completed the FAFSA
      • SAR based on an estimated FAFSA is acceptable
      • SAR is only required for scholarships with financial need as a factor (American Legion, Ron D. Appleman, John "Jack" Boder, Ruth J. Bruggeman, James J. Connolly, Stan and Doris Hill, MAEF Community and Technical, MAEF Signature, Kelly L. Spaulding, and Wildwood Lions)
      • PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE FULL FAFSA REPORT
Any and all financial documentation submitted will be kept in strictest of confidence.  Information is only shared with the MAEF Scholarship Committee, and only where financial need is a factor in scholarship recipient selection.
    • One letter of recommendation (please note guidelines for letter of recommendation under each scholarship)
    • Al Sansgaard Memorial Scholarship applicants must also submit a copy of your Letter of Acceptance from the college of your choice
