Post-Secondary Scholarships
MAEF manages post-secondary scholarships for students attending Mahtomedi Public Schools. Scholarships are available because of generous donations from individuals and families. Scholarship donors recognize the importance of education and have chosen to actively participate in extending this opportunity.
Applications for 2027 post-secondary scholarships will open on December 17, 2026, and close on March 21.
*Please note applications for the MAEF Community & Technical Scholarship will close on April 16, 2027.

Available: 1 scholarshipThe Kelly Kirkpatrick Menozzi Scholarship carries out the legacy of Kelly’s life as a Mahtomedi High School graduate, Air Force Academy graduate, All-American cross-country runner, 21-year Air Force officer and pilot, and award-winning winemaker.
The Kelly Kirkpatrick Menozzi Scholarship will provide an annual scholarship of $2,000 to a Mahtomedi High School graduating female senior.

Available: 1 scholarshipThe Wendy Jo Shaffer Memorial Scholarship for Women in Engineering carries out the legacy of Wendy Jo Shaffer (1989-2025), a mother, engineer, and beloved family member and friend to many. One scholarship will be awarded annually to a high school female who plans on attending a 2 or 4-year college/university, or trade school, and who has an interest in engineering and is considered a positive member of the student body in the classroom and community. Wendy was joyful, intelligent, built connections wherever she went, and was a natural leader among her peers. The scholarship helps carry on Wendy’s memory and light by encouraging and supporting other young women exploring careers in engineering. The recipient each year will be chosen by the family of Wendy Jo Shaffer.
The Wendy Jo Shaffer Memorial Scholarship for Women in Engineering will provide an annual scholarship of $1,000 to a Mahtomedi High School graduating female senior who intends to pursue a career in the engineering field.

Award: $3,000
Available: 1 scholarshipKelly Spaulding (wife of retired OHA music teacher Brett Smith) was a band director and she also taught piano and flute at Mahtomedi Middle School. Her eclectic interests and experiences included painting, calligraphy, skiing in the mountains, canoeing the Boundary Waters, and leading dolphin shows at Valleyfair. A scholarship was set up in her name after she passed away in 1989 from breast cancer.
The Kelly L. Spaulding Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship is awarded annually to a Mahtomedi High School senior who plans to pursue a post-secondary degree in the fine arts (music, visual arts, drama, film/video, etc.).

Award Process
All students selected as scholarship recipients will be notified by the Mahtomedi High School Counseling Office in early May. Scholarships will be awarded at the Senior Scholarship Night.
