OLIVER’S FUND GRANTS

Oliver's Fund Grants are available to licensed staff to pay for programs that support students in the following areas: increasing mental wellness, creating a sense of community and belonging, and/or raising awareness of the important issues of depression and suicide. Oliver's Fund grants are available because of generous donations from the friends and family of Oliver Zlonis and community members who share their passion for mental wellness.

Screenagers Family Night at O.H. Anderson Elementary

The Screenagers documentary will be shared with O.H. Anderson students and families during the 2025 fall conferences.  This award-winning film probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, and academics. The film offers solutions on how to help kids navigate the digital world. It will be coupled with a behavior specialist-led discussion after the film. The movie will support district messages shared with families regarding device usage, school attendance, adequate sleep, and appropriate behavior. This aligns with the Mahtomedi Public Schools’ strategic plan to support the social and emotional well-being of students and staff.

Wellness Project at Mahtomedi High School

Funding through this grant will support mental health resources at Mahtomedi High School by better meeting the wellness needs of all students by increasing awareness and improving access to resources and spaces that foster positive mental health. Funds will be used to create a calming environment in the Mahtomedi High School’s Wellness Center through the purchase of additional seating, posters, blankets, pillows, and calming tools to make the room welcoming and comfortable. This area will be used as a space where students can decompress if they are struggling during the school day, as well as for mental health discussion group meetings. Funds will also be used to support monthly engagement and learning about nationally recognized mental health awareness topics, such as suicide prevention, eating disorder awareness, and others. By bringing awareness to mental health struggles and creating safe spaces, students will feel they are seen and understood. It will also help students who don’t struggle with mental health issues to understand different topics and support those around them.
